About

A kitchen and an operation, in equal measure.

Most caterers are one or the other. The food is beautiful and the timings slip, or the logistics are immaculate and the plate is forgettable. We were built to be good at both, because a guest only ever experiences the two together.

You choose the room. We bring the kitchen. We have no dining room and no function hall — we arrive at yours.

The name is the brief

Savour is the food: sourcing, technique, the eight-hour braise. Serve is everything around it: the timeline, the allergen record, the room put back by midnight.

Neither half is the junior partner. That principle decides the menu, the service plan and what we are willing to put in a contract — and it is drawn into the logo, where a serif ampersand sits inside a cloche and rises through it as the handle.

Savour & Serve is the catering company of Lambital Holdings, a multi‑generational holding company building businesses across education, technology and lifestyle.

We are a mobile caterer. Our kitchen in Pietermaritzburg is where the prep happens and where the vans load; it is not somewhere you can book a table. The cooking is finished at your venue, on the day, in front of your guests — and where a venue has no kitchen, the kitchen travels with us.

What we hold ourselves to

Each one is written as an obligation, not an adjective. A value that does not oblige anybody to do anything is decoration.

Culinary Excellence

Premium sourcing and meticulous technique in every dish — including the staff meal.

Anticipatory Hospitality

The glass is refilled before it is noticed; the request is answered before it is made.

Integrity

Itemised pricing, named suppliers, no surcharge the client has not already seen.

Adaptability

Menu and service style tuned to the rhythm of the room, not to our standard package.

And five things we don't do

Useful principles say no to something.

No venue of our own
Deliberately. A caterer who owns a room has a reason to put you in it. We are paid to cook, so the only question is which space suits your day — and we will say so even when the answer is the cheap hall.
No tiered packages with names
Menus are built from your brief. “Silver, Gold, Platinum” is the opposite of adapting to a room.
No pricing that moves after the quote
The number you approve is the number on the invoice.
No dietary course plated as an apology
The vegetarian main is a main course in its own right, designed alongside the rest.
No borrowed prestige
No stock photographs of other people’s events, no invented numbers, and no testimonial tidied up on a client’s behalf.

Come and taste it.

The fastest way to judge a caterer is to eat their food. Tell us the date and we will build you something to try.
